BIKER

BIKER. Autumn 19. A crossbike racing champion turned motorbike designer, Sammy Miller has been a hugely influential figure in motorbike design for decades. Having won multiple racing titles as a biker he turned to bike design as his career ended designing for both Bultaco and later Honda.

Miller is the man responsible for the famous Sherpa T motorbike beloved by motorbike enthusiasts worldwide. It was while working as a bike designer at Bultaco he re-designed the old Sherpa N motorbike into the new Sherpa T bike which he also rode in competition. So confident was he in this bike, he had a clause written into his contract which said if he did to win 50% of the races he entered, Bultaco didn’t have to pay him.

Born in Belfast in 1933, he won 1,300 races in total over his career and is named as the most famous trials bike racer of all time. From Bultaco he moved to Honda where he also enjoyed success. Later in life he opened a motorbike museum in the south of England near Southampton. The Sammy Miller Museum is home to a great number of antique, vintage and restored motorcycles. The man himself is also a published author.

The BIKER collection speaks of Sammy Miller racing and design career and stands by the codes of culture, masculinity & meaning central to Go Dare Creative’s design and marketing process. The collection is full of identifiable biker style pieces and strong print storytelling pieces like the vintage biker helmet print shirts and tees and the bike wheel print shirts.

The Sherpa Motor Club graphic biker tee is a standout piece and the Sammy Miller Equipe is a salute to his design agency of the same name. The campaign model was Formula 3 racing champion Lucca Allen from Cork.
